Life in a Box is an ongoing documentary project exploring life inside single-room occupancy hotels in San Francisco, primarily in the Tenderloin and Mission districts.

 

Through intimate portraits and interior scenes, the work documents a form of housing that remains largely invisible, capturing how residents construct personal worlds within extremely limited space.

 

As these buildings and communities face ongoing transformation, the project aims to create a long-term visual archive of their social and historical presence in the city.
